Stepping Stones has 2 purpose built homes for up to 40 children in each. Children may be admitted from age 3 plus and they can stay until they complete class 12 which is usually age 17 – 19yrs depending on what age they are when they first access the education system.
Our boy’s home is called Bethel House and our girl’s home is called Bethany Home. They are in close proximity to one another but are set within their own boundary walls where they live as a family with full time and part time staff on site at all times. The children are either orphans, abandoned or from families that are so poor their child is at extreme risk of malnutrition, disease or exploitation.
Poverty in rural East India is widespread and intense, affecting young children and the elderly the most. Young children are extremely vulnerable to sickness, disease, severe weather and all kinds of abuse. Consequently, the prospect of getting a good education and gainful employment is very limited.
Through our network of church leaders, village elders, friends and colleagues that we have built up over 25 years around East India, we are able to locate children that are deemed at risk. Great effort is made to ensure that each child’s relatives, village elders, social services and any other appropriate authorities are involved in the assessment and referral of children to one of our homes and that each child keeps regular contact with their family whilst in our care.
All the children in our homes attend the local schools where they get a good education and develop friendships with other local children. In addition, they receive extra tuition at home from our qualified team of teachers who take classes 5 days a week.
Both our children’s homes provide a safe, loving, family environment, education, training, food, clothing, health care and all the support that is needed.
Staff training to ensure the welfare and safety of our children is continuous and our child protection policy is regularly reviewed and updated.
Our trustees and staff are committed to protecting, supporting and enabling each child to become the best they can be and graduate with the tools to live a full and productive life once they leave their care.
Total financial support for all our children comes from people just like you. You’ve seen the need and you want to help. Unlike most charities we guarantee that 100% of child sponsorship monies goes directly to our children’s homes in East India. £40 per month provides a child with all that they need to live in one of our homes.
If you would like to find out more about sponsoring one of our boys or girls, then you can by clicking SUPPORT and following the instructions.
You can sponsor a child from as little as £10 and up to £40 per month. In exchange you will receive regular photos and updates from your child.
